Kunichika: Mitate Chuya Niju-Yo Ji no Uchi (Parody of the Twenty-four Hours of the Day) - del 1

Som många andra ukiyo-e-konstnärer, gjorde Toyohara Kunichika många serier med tryck. En av de bästa av dem är Mitate Chuya Niju-Yo Ji no Uchi (Parody of the Twenty-four Hours of the Day) från 1890, där han i varje bild kontrasterar en bijin med någon speciell aktivitet eller aspekt av vardagslivet. Bilderna innehåller massor av associationer och ordlekar. Dessutom kan vi se exempel på koma-e (varje bild har en liten infälld bild).

Koma-e

Koma-e är en term för en liten bild inlagd i en större. Såna bilder är relativt vanliga inom ukiyo-e - speciellt inom mitate-e, där den lilla infällda bildens motiv kan kontrasteras mot huvudmotivet i syfte att åstadkomma vissa associationer och effekter. Vi ska se på några exempel som visar tydligt vad som utgör en koma-e.

Utagawa Kuniteru - Kunitsuna II

Utagawa Kuniteru (1808–1876) studerade under både Kunisada och Toyokuni. Han arbetade med många motivkretsar.

Kuniteru använde också namnet Kunitsuna II, och gjorde då mest karikatyrer, sumo-motiv samt bilder av Japans modernisering.

Utagawa Kunitsuna

Det är svårt att hitta information om Utagawa Kunitsuna (1805-1868), mer än att han studerat under Toyokuni. Vi låter hans bilder tala för sig själva. Var dock medveten om att det är svårt att skilja på Kunitsuna och Kunitero (Kunitsuna II), det finns ett betydande utrymme för misstag.
